Was up there in mid December and its an absolute beautiful place and can't wait to get back there. Fished land based and did alright but the wind was blowing hard. As wildfish said best way would be to leave it in the bay over night whilst camping up the hill. The bay is well protected and there are limited number of campers so it would be fairly safe to leave it down there overnight unattended.

When camping watch out for the monitors etc as there are heaps of them, they are cheeky and will take anything resembling food left around.
Also if wind is a problem you can always fish city or pulpit rocks which produce and are beautiful places on their own right

Yeah sounds/looks like a ripper spot to set up base so we'll see what we can organise.
